What is linoleum made of? Linseed oil, flax, jute, cork powder, wood flour, natural pigments.

How does linoleum flooring differ from vinyl? Vinyl is a petroleum-based product that can gas out toxic chemicals into your home environment. Linoleum flooring is a non-toxic product that will not gas out toxic chemicals into your home environment.

How is this product different from that which can be found in Grandma’s 1950s kitchen? Grandma probably has linoleum flooring that was supplied in a sheet-type format, and then glued to her subfloor. It may have also contained asbestos. Eco-Friendly linoleum floating floors are sold in 3′ x 1′ x 7/16″ floating floor planks that are completely re-usable, replaceable, and are installed without the use of glue or nails.

How will linoleum hold up with my high traffic kitchen? Linoleum flooring is very resilient to heavy household traffic. As the linseed oil cures, the material will actually harden over time.

That kind of maintenance does it require? Our linoleum floating floors should be sealed using our non-toxic sealant or Bioshield Floor Milk.

If my floor is not even, can I install linoleum flooring? Yes. If you have a slope, the planks will follow the slope. If you have dips in the floor, you may want to use a floor leveling compound or use a foam or cork underlayment to even out the floor prior to laying the planks.
